Amazing Bridges

A curved concrete box girder bridge in north-west Scotland

A photo of Kylesku Bridge by the Author

Kylesku Bridge also known as “Drochaid a’ Chaolais Chumhaing” is a curved box girder bridge in North West Scotland and is considered a must-see in the famous NC 500 route.

“The bridge replaces the ferry service which has existed since the early 19th century. The bridge was built for the Highland Regional Council and partly financed by the European Economic Community” — Plaque near the bridge

It was indeed a piece of art in bridge making. The innovative curved shape together with its striking views presents a new world architecture marvel.

The bridge crosses the White Cairn Loch ( also known as Loch a’ Chàirn Bhàin or Loch Cairnbawn ) and is 276m long and cross 130m width of water.
